Participant Review: Bryan Moore
Participants enrolled in Kathy Brew’s (AP Faculty) “Autobiography of Place I” were asked to create an image-based work that explored their own autobiography of place— that is, a place of importance, influence or inspiration. Bryan Moore (MFA AP15) responded with a Sharpie drawing that recalls political cartoons and graffiti of the Capitol building in his hometown of Boise, Idaho.

Boise is my place of birth and the place that I have spent all but 7 or 8 years of my life. The Capitol building is just a few blocks from the house I lived in as a child. Boise has been a very hard town for me and I’m beginning to feel quite detached from it. Without even trying, my portrait of the Capitol Building (symbolic of the entire state) came out rather dark and Gothic looking despite its beautiful Neo-classical architecture.
