On October 7th at the Jewish Museum, scholars Robert Pincus-Witten and Barbara Jakobson will discuss the life and influence of the art dealer Leo Castelli with author Annie Cohen-Solal, whose new book, Leo and His Circle: The Life of Leo Castelli, traces the fortunes of the Castelli family. The Castelli’s fortunes rose and fell for centuries before fleeing European fascism. Their background “informed Castelli’s guarded but magnetic personality and influenced his role as a visionary in every major new movement, from Pop to Conceptual Art." Tickets are $15.
Pincus-Witten is a visiting lecturer for the MFA Art Practice Program.
