Bring it on, 2017!

The new calendar year brings with it new opportunities and a daunting new set of problems as we prepare for a difficult and uncertain shift in the social and political terrain. The challenges for artists under these new conditions may be greater than ever, but so are the responsibilities. We in the MFA Art Practice community are committed to rising to the occasion—to listen with more patience, to engage with communities overlooked by mainstream discourses, and to practice art with vigor and courage. We draw a wealth of experience and knowledge from faculty members like seminal feminist video artist Dara Birnbaum and Kids of Survival Founder Tim Rollins, and we continue to educate ourselves with texts by great thinkers like Rancière and Haraway. To 2017, we say bring it on!

We welcome artists of all kinds—interdisciplinary, crossdisciplinary, postdisciplinary, painters, videomakers, performers—creeds, genders, colors and classes to apply to join the class of 2019, starting this coming summer.
