Lunchtime Lecture: Shirin Neshat

Shirin Nashat is a New York City based Iranian artist whose work explores female identity and politics in Islamic countries. Neshat has had solo exhibitions at Franklin Furnace; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Art Institute of Chicago; Dallas Museum of Art; Kunsthalle Wien in Vienna; National Museum of Contemporary Art in Athens; Walker Art Center; Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum Für Gengewart in Berlin; Stedelijk Museum; and National Gallery of Iceland in Reykjevik, among others. She has participated in the Venice Biennale; Austrian Triennial on Photography in Graz; Biennale of Sydney; Johannesburg Biennale; Istanbul Biennial; Carnegie International; and the Whitney Biennial.
